I did not like this CD, I love Faruiz's classics but her son is killing his mom with these awful jazz mixed songs she needs a new composer! no one can compare to her husband and his brothers composing.

I think Fairouz is fantastic, her voice is rejuvinating and getting re-bron with Ziad's songs, excellent collaboration of son and mother.. Bravo Fairouz, keep it up, our Diva.

Fairuz's voice is still great and capable of giving more and more and in her Beiteddine concerts her voice sounded wonderful. She is a remarkable singer who performed great concerts in Beiteddine like she always does.

This is one of the most outstanding performances I've ever witnessed. I was one of the lucky ones that attended the concert live, which was the best experience of my life. This is in my mind, the best concert CD for Fairuz. Ziad is the most talented musician in the Middle East in my mind, and he proves it once again in Beiteddine. The music, the International Orchestra, the recording, Ziad , and the most beautiful voice on Earth, Our Queen Of Hearts Fairuz made this concert, one to remember for life. Beautiful work by Ziad and Fairuz.

I love Fairuz. I have been raised on her voice. I have all 75 CDs I could find of hers over time. Unfortunately, since "Kifak Inta," and her voice has not been the same to my ears. Listening to this CD, I'm actually impressed with the music and sound clarity, but Fairuz is not the nectar that I miss. I love Fairuz, the simple music, the strong words, the resurrecting voice, but not her "new" stuff... Speaking of "new", are Arabs planning to come out with DVDs anytime soon? I would love to have Fairuz Plays on DVD.

Well what can I say? The CD starts off with moving piece of Ziad's masters. The moment I heard Fiarouz's voice I had tears in my eyes. All I can say it gets better as the concert progresses. Strange but True. Enjoy one on the greatest artists and music of our time.

Long Live the Lady! Any new release of Fairouz is a major event on the Arab musical scene. Her voice still brings back to me the best of memories. The music of La Inta Habibi is just amazing. The timeless classic Aho Dalli Sar by Sayed Darwish and Ya Mahla Layali el Hawa by the Rahbani Brothers were so beautifully sung. The choir was charming in Shou hal Eyam and Habaitak. Some of the more recent songs by Ziad may be controversial but this is part of the magic of the Great Lady. All in all, this CD is a must-have.

What I can say about Fairuz's songs is that they are really fantastic. Inspite of all what has been said, and inspite of the somehow disturbing jazz instruments implied by her son, the only thing that makes of her songs eternal is her angelic voice which has amazed me since my childhood days.

I love Fairuz .. The first time I heard her in my life when I was 6 years old, or may be earlier, but that when it first atracted my attention.Ever since I memorized all her songs or all the ones that I could earn... She is the only one .. The only one that Arab should be really proud of.. The only one who sang songs about everything beautiful in life.. besides traditional love... She is a myth.. a phelosophy.. No one could ever or will ever be as deep .. as devoted .. as complete .. as strong.. as she is..No matter what she sings, she is the best.. I don't like the way ppl just try to criticise especially our ppl which I don't understand.. Should we always live in our past?!!.. Why don't we like the new?.. And why we always when we try to imitate the west, we just take the surface.. I mean I like the new songs that are being composed now.. But aren't they for fun only? .. We can't say that it's art of music (most of them to be fair not al of them).. I hope Fairuz reads all that and sends me some reply because I loved her since I was young kid.. Now I'm 33 years old.. a mother of two children and I still love her the way I did when I was a teenager only deeper.. I love you Fairuz for whatever you sing even if you just mumble with a music I love to hear you. You're my # 1 singer.

For someone who has been enjoying the splendid voice of Fairuz and music of the Rahbani Brothers for over thirty years, it is truly sad to see that Fairuz will compromise her beautiful voice to the new shallow lyrics and awfull music of her son. The composition of the new music is uncohesive and badly orchestreted. The songs of Fairuz always represented the best of Lebanese and Arab culture. Unfortunately, this new CD is terrible, just like the previews ones from the past ten years.

Fairouz is so divine beyond discription or comparison,it is just enough credit that she is keeping an open mind to a new jazz music of her most gifted Ziad, not holding to the past and dying ,by the way i am a student of cassial music, and what Ziad is doing is not only jazz but a very modern way in composing harmony and counterpoint ,which need a lot of study,so he knows what he is doing and he is doing it very skillfuly and beautifully, far beyound comarison with anything we hear now.

Fairouz's voice and songs has great effect in me that if I'm grouchy or in a bad mode just by listening to her songs(old ones) it calms me down. In my opinion her love to her son Ziad it is going to minimize the image and the legacy his dad and uncle left for Fairouz. Assy And Mansour borrowed from the west to incorperate into the eastern music but Ziad is totaly imports from the west which is totlay unacceptable. I strongly agree with 1st reviewer Fairouz should and must search for another composer or at least to work with Mansour. Because we all love Fairouz and we wish the best for her.

AWSOME!! there are no words to describe this CD! I cried and felt proud that I'm an arab and specially Lebanese!! With all respect, it's shocking that some people think that Fayrouz, by singing Ziad's lyrics, is minimising herself!! (Nothing in the world can minimize such a great person). I think some of us are forgetting that it's this pure angelic voice that reaches the deepest parts of us and touches our hearts and souls. All my friends don't understand even one word in Arabic and still they go and buy Fayouz CD's and when they ask me to translate them I simply say, if I try to translate them, the words will just lose their meaning...Yes it's true that Ziad's songs cannot be compared with the Rahbani Brothers' ones but this is a completely new age and although the lyrics don't have deep meanings as the old ones but there is something in common between the old ones and the new ones (actually two), the first is the simplicity of the words and expressions and secondly the greatness of music..Ziad is proving that we can be as good in Western rythms as well as Eastern ones and only a genious musician like Ziad can mix the two kinds of rythms into one....Fayrouz will always be an inspiration and I think her voice and the great music that the Rahbani Brothers left and that her son is also making will keep enchanting us for ever!!.

A jazz lover will not listen to Fairouz/Ziad jazz.By the same argument, a lover of a lebanese song will not listen to Shadee. Tinzakar ma Tinaad is a good example. Listen to the silence at the end before the cold applause. The audience could simply not figure out if the song in fact ended !!! From a fanatic Fairouz fan to Fairouz: Get off the jazz wave, do not sing for "saboun and balcoon" and let us enjoy your voice with modern but reasonably classy songs worthy of the diva that you are. You are our past, present and we want you to be our future.

It is just one simple word, Fairuz. She means everything, our home, our country, and even our future. God bless the" voice of angels".

When I hear Fairuz I think that she is singing only to me because she sings my interests and concerns. Means she sings my life, with its happiness and sorrows. She is my conscious. I believe this is the common feeling of anybody who listens to her. The first time I heard Fairuz singing to her son Ziad I got upset because I heard something unfamiliar from her. At that time I didn’t accept this new style from her but couldn’t understand why because I was young. But now after I became far away from my home country and from my loved people I realized why I was right. I can interpret it like that : it is too hard and painful to get back home and find the loved people and things have changed and never remained the people and things you left. But now I love Fairuz and admire Ziad and really love to hear her singing to him because she is that beautiful image which won’t be damaged by anythingAttending her party in Beiteddin was one of my biggest dreams which has been achieved. When she started singing I felt that I moved into a place and time out of the earth. I know that this party became a memory and part of my past time but I can’t link it to a certain time in that past because it’s like a beautiful dream you can remember it but you can’t know in which hour or at what time has happened.. She is really an angel because she isn’t related to date or place because she simply belongs to anytime. When I say Fairuz I mean that phenomena Fairuz which includes: Fairuz and Al Rahbani brothers. I really adore Fairuz.

Many would consider Fairouz singing to Ziad-made&orchestrated music is a diminishing thing-but why?It sounds differently, yes it does...but the same tones and comprehension are there-the nostalgie in every bit of her voice, even in the greatest love song you can hear this unheard sigh..and that is what is common between her and her son-every touch of Ziads piano reminds us of this sigh... This album shows how well Fairouz can adapt to Ziad in her very own way,but also how well Ziad infiltrates in his mothers voice... Comprehension between mother and her son-in musical tones..

I agree with the reviews about Fairuz's jazz influence. I feel that she should stay with traditional arabic music. I am not arabic in descent but I love traditional arabic music and when I listen to arabic music that is what I want not Barbara Streisand. I did however enjoy the last tracks of the CD. It was more of what I was looking for in arabic music. I love Fairuz's style and I hope she dispenses with the jazz influence.

First of all this is a page to write your comments regarding a particular CD. Not your general opinion... I attented the concert and it was like visiting heaven for 2 hours. The music and the voice were the best you can ever imagine. Ziad is by far one of the most amazing musicians the world have known and Fairuz is simply "THE VOICE".This CD is wonderful. A must have like any other Fairuz CD. Second of all I like to remind all the people who dare and say that Fairuz should stick to traditional arabic music, that at least 90 % of her songs are far from being traditional arabic music. The Rahbani Brothers themselves began mixing western music with oriental and even composing only western tunes.I remember reading the comments in newspapers in the 60s when The Rahbani Brothers and Fairuz made "Nihna Wel Qamar Jiran" based on three occidental instruments. They were so against this western melodies and songs not to mention the lyrics and the instruments(they were the first to use the accordeon). All what I know is these songs, today(30 years later), became "TRADITIONAL ARABIC" music for you. Not to mention Mozart's 40th symphony "Ya ana Ya ana" or the south american Tangos "A3tini elnay" "Zanbak" and"Fayek 3alayi" and many many others. So please instead of just talking, listen to this wonderfully written(or corrected), designed and orchestrated music that adds another dimension to the heavenly voice of our "Embassadrice aupres des Etoiles" that can only be done by one person alive Ziad. Looking forward to this year's concert...
